Netiquette for the Social Media Chanels of the German Embassy Amman (based on Netiquette of the Federal Foreign Office, dated 18.08.2024)

We are happy to read your comments and contributions, and we are also pleased to engage in dialogue with you through our social media accounts. We strive to have a safe space to hear your opinions and answer your questions.

Therefore, we ask you to take the following into consideration when interacting on the pages of the German Embassy Amman on social media.

If you do not adhere to these rules we reserve the right to delete comments or report them without stating a reason.

Liability of social media users

We do not bear any responsibility for comments posted by social media users as each user is responsible for the comments they post.

Respect in the discussion

We look forward to an open dialogue with due respect, so we ask you to always express your opinions in an objective and polite manner.

Treat other users the way you would like to be treated.

Please keep always in mind that you are communicating with human beings, not with virtual characters. We urge you to provide objective arguments and evidence and refrain from slandering.

Everyone has the right to express their opinion, it is wrong to impose your opinions on others. Hate, however, is not an opinion.

It is worth noting that we will delete or report any insults, sexual or racist comments, as well as anti-Semitic comments. We will also do the same in the case of vulgar comments, offensive or hateful language, or comments that violate the rights of others, including intellectual property rights.

Verify the accuracy and source of your information first before posting

The information in your comment must be accurate and include the name of the original author or source from which it was quoted, so that other users can identify it. Please be careful not to overdo it when posting links to external sites.

Consider the topic of the post

Your comments should be directly related to the topic of the posts. We reserve the right to delete unrelated or repeated simultaneous comments.

Please notice that it is unauthorized to use our social media pages for advertising purposes or to provide services such as commercial promotion of goods and services, and in this case the comment will be deleted.

It is forbidden to post content, information, software or other materials that violate applicable laws.

To the extent that posts are protected by copyright, the rights to use remain essentially with the user. However, by posting, users allow the German Federal Foreign Office to save and archive their posts.

As the admins of this page, we will not allow violations of the communication and commenting rules set forth herein, we reserve the right to report and delete offending comments without giving reasons, and to report their authors and block them.
